Bulle Shah gal taaiyon mukdi... je main nu manno gavaaiye...
Bulleh Shah! It only ends... when you loose ego from your heart...

Sir te topi te neeyat khoti... laina kee topi sir dhar ke?
You cover your head (showing commitment to religion) but your intentions are not pure... What do you achieve by covering your head?

Chille keeta par rabb na mileya... laina kee chilleyaan vich varh ke?
You fast for forty days but did not find God... What do you achieve by fasting?

Tasbeeh phiri par dil na phireya... laina kee tasbeeh hath phar ke?
You went around the tasbeeh* but never went into your own heart... What did you achieve by holding the tasbeeh* in your hand?

Bulleya jaag bina dudh nai jamda... te bhaanve laal hove kadh kadh ke...
Bulle Shah! Milk will not yeild curd unless it is cultured... You can keep boiling it forever!

Mooh aayi baat na rehendi ae...

Jhooth aakhaan te kuj bachda ae...
I save somethings if I lie...

Sach aakhaan te bhambar machda ae...
Telling the truth creates havoc...

Therefore the soul endures seperation...

Aftering wielding the sword...
